An illustration for an art book (Tanzenden Sterne) that was postponed (?) until late fall or so. I'm not sure if the project is going forward, but I've been sitting on this for a while, so I thought I'd go ahead and post it.
It's an illustration of the constellation Perseus.
And a bit about the constellation itself!
"The brightest star in its formation is 5,000 times brighter than our sun, another star is a nova, and another, one of the most famous stars, is Algol, whose Arabic name means “The Demon Star” and is actually the first set of eclipsing binary stars ever discovered, giving the impression of Medusa’s blinking demon eye. Perseus encompasses 3 deep space nebulae, 4 open clusters, and the second brightest object in the known universe. In this image Medusa’s stronger, immortal sister, Stheno, lurks behind Perseus preparing to eclipse him."
I notice the color blue is used alot for Medusa related artwork, I like your use of blue here, it kinda gives it a glowing effect like the stars, rather than a cooling effect that blue usually represents.
astronomy I love you so <3
I would really hope to see more astronomy and or mythology things!! ;0)
Though honestly I like everything you do, so...
but this, is absolutely gorgeous...
can I ask what you used?
